Abstract

The study aimed to identify the emotional and social problems among adolescent girls in the Jerusalem Governorate and their relationship to social media use. The researchers employed a descriptive correlational design. The study sample consisted of 380 adolescent girls selected through convenience sampling from schools in the Jerusalem Governorate. The results showed that the level of emotional and social problems among adolescent girls was moderate (M = 3.25), and the level of social media use was also moderate (M = 3.40). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between emotional and social problems and social media use (r = 0.707, α < 0.05). The study recommended implementing awareness programs in schools and local communities in the Jerusalem Governorate to raise awareness about psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, and shyness, and to equip adolescent girls with healthy strategies to manage these problems effectively.
