Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the psychological and social effects of the Israeli aggression on public school students in Palestinian society, with a focus on the governorates of Ramallah, Al Bireh, and Jenin. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, where a scale consisting of (40) items distributed in five main areas (psychological effects, social effects, impact on academic achievement, psychological and social support, and social behaviours) was applied to a random sample of (350) students out of (14) A random sample of (350) male and female students out of (14,353) students constituting the study population. The results showed that the psychological effects had a clear impact, ranging from (3.10-4.25), with the highest rates recorded in the degree of fear of losing parents (85%), while the social effects came last and ranged between (2.53-3.86), with the emergence of isolation behaviours and poor school interaction. The results also revealed a negative impact on academic achievement and ranged between (2.85-4.31), especially in terms of difficulty concentrating and disrupting the school programme.  The study did not show statistically significant differences between the two genders. Moreover, the study showed differences in favour of high school students compared to the tenth and eleventh grades.
