The Role of Palestinian Sports in Promoting Sustainable Development in Palestine from the Perspective of Students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the role of Palestinian sports in promoting sustainable development in Palestine from the perspective of students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, in addition to identifying the differences according to gender and specialization variables. The researcher used the descriptive-analytical approach. The study was conducted on a stratified sample of 168 male and female students. To collect data, the researcher designed a tool to measure the role of Palestinian sports in promoting sustainable development in Palestine. The research reached the following results: The overall score for the role of Palestinian sports in promoting sustainable development in Palestine among the study sample was very high. - There are statistically significant differences in the total score and the social and economic dimension according to the gender variable and in favor of male students but there aren’t statistically significant differences in environmental dimension. - There aren’t statistically significant differences in the overall score and the social and environmental dimension according to the specialization variable but there are statistically significant differences in the economic dimension of the bachelor's degree students. The researcher recommends designing and building physical education curricula in Palestinian universities that include sustainable development.
