Abstract
The study aimed to identify the effect of small-sided training games on improving skills variables for juniors’ football players under 17 years old. The study used the experimental scientific design on 48 junior players under-17 age group playing in the 2017/2018 sports season. The sample was divided into two groups: the experimental group 24 junior players from Tulkarem Youth Center Club trained using small-sided training games for 12 weeks, and the control group 24 players from Thaqafi Tulkarem Club trained using traditional training exercises for the same period. For any given training week, both groups received three training sessions each is (90-120) minutes. The small-sided training games program showed differences in the level of passing skills performance between the experimental and the control groups and in favor of the experimental group. The researchers recommend to rely on small-sided training games techniques in juniors’ players preparation programs during the training season and conduct more researches on football modern training techniques which aim to improve junior players the level of training status for young people.
